Progress Update

Progress Update: a misnomer

My needles arrived Thursday & my new yarn arrived Friday, thus pushing "the book I've been meaning to finish" to the back burner...so NO Reading Progress.

My fiance & I got a new kitten on Friday. We spent most of the long weekend trying to supervise the interaction between Scout (the new 9 week old kitten, female) and Linus (my 4 year old cat, also female). I did make some progress on the worsted weight scarf, but then Scout discovered the wonders of yarn & destroyed my work... so NO Knitting Progress either!!.

I was a little disappointed with my choice of yarn. I wasn't thinking when I placed my order & managed to buy a very similar color pallet for both of the scarves I intended to knit. I'm going to go ahead with the worsted weight scarf, but I may rethink the DK scarf...use the yarn for something else. Maybe make a pile of drab grey and olive baby booties, or just add to my stash. Sometimes I think that I should give my stash a name. It's an ever-growing and overwhelming force that seems to have it's own personality. Kind of a "Little-Yarn Shop of Horrors", too bad I've already given the name Seymore to the jasmine in my backyard.

This is Scout in the foreground & Linus in the background. Linus was a little pissed about a new kitten around, but things are quickly becoming copacetic. I don't think that Linus is going to cuddle up with Scout anytime soon, but this morning they were playing together.

My First Post

I created this blog several months ago, so that I can talk about the things that would bore most people...like knitting and my cat. Then my life got crazy. I got engaged, started planning my wedding, bought a house, celebrated Mardi Gras, co-hosted a baby shower, and then furnished and moved into my new house. Things have settled down now, so I have more time to knit and blog about it...but don’t expect daily posts.

I just finished a baby blanket for my friend, though I still haven't taken any photos. And I’m about to start knitting 2 scarfs. I'm waiting for a new pair of needles for the first scarf and some new yarn for the second scarf.

I’ll try to write soon. Hopefully I won’t forget about this blog.
